India’s rigid stance main hurdle in Kashmir solution: Geelani
The veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani has said India's rigid stance is the main hurdle in peaceful settlement of the lingering Kashmir issue.
In a statement issued in Srinagar, he said the unresolved Kashmir issue is the root cause of tension between Pakistan and India and could lead them to another war.
He said Pakistan's bold stance on Kashmir had unnerved India and due to this reason New Delhi had flared the situation on the border to give vent to its anger.
He urged the Indian rulers to acknowledge the realities about the Kashmir conflict and take steps towards its settlement for the betterment of Indian people as well as the inhabitants of the entire south Asian region.
Syed Ali Geelani said India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world but did not respect the democratic rights of the people of Kashmir.
He said that the people of Kashmir had been struggling for securing their birthright to self-determination for last several decades but India and its puppet regime in the territory are suppressing it through use of brute force.
