Pakistan calls for resumption of Palestine-Israel peace talks
Masood Khan underscores need for building trust for early resumption of talks.
Pakistan has called for resumption of stalled peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel.
Speaking at the UN Security Council in New York, Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN Masood Khan said the issues between both the parties on final border arrangements, settlements and release of prisoners cannot be resolved without negotiations.
He underscored the need for reduction of tensions and building of minimal trust for early resumption of talks.
Welcoming the Palestinian initiative to forge national unity, Masood Khan deplored the recent storming of the Al-Aqsa mosque compound by Israeli extremists.
On Syria, the Pakistani envoy called on the warring parties to return to the negotiating table for a long term political solution.
