Australia to increase troops in Afghanistan on US’ formal request
Australia has decided to increase its troop presence in Afghanistan following a formal request from the United States.
Australian Defence Minister Marise Payne said sending of thirty new military advisers will raise Australia's total deployment in Afghanistan to 300.
Ms Payne said that the troops would help train Afghan security forces.
The US authorities have also recommended to send at least 3,000 more soldiers to fight Taliban in Afghanistan.
There are about 13,000 NATO troops currently in the country.
