UN’s Approach to Stabilization in Crisis
UN work in crisis prevention and recovery focuses on in increasing the resilience of communities to natural and manmade disasters, mitigating their impact and preventing conflict through rehabilitation and early recovery.
UN has implemented and monitored emergency situations and programmes on drought, flood and earthquake relief assistance, facilitated early recovery coordination, provided relief and rehabilitation for Temporarily Dislocated Persons (TDPs) and the communities in crisis affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
UNDP and Italian Embassy sign agreement for the Mountain Protected Areas Project
TheItalian Agency for Development and Cooperation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with EvK2CNR signed a memorandum of understanding in a ceremony at the Ramada Hotel today, agreeing to work on a project titled “Improvement of the Central Karakoram National Park(CKNP) Management System as a Model for Mountain Ecosystems in Northern Pakistan”.The project will also cover the Deosai National Park. Mr. Benedetto Della Vedova, Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is visiting Pakistan to attend the agreement signing ceremony.
Notable guests included Mr. Zahid Hamid, Federal Minister for Climate Change,Mr. Hafeezur Rehman, Chief Minister, Gilgit-Baltistan,His Excellency, Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo, Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan,Mr. Ignacio Artaza, Country Director, UNDP, Ms. Santa Molè, Director, Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation, and Mr. Agostino DaPolenza,President, EvK2CNR.

This is a two years project with total amount of 2 million €, which is for the improvement of Central Karakorum National Park. Basically, the project will develop a model for mountain eco system in Pakistan. The major reason for to come here is that Pakistan is one of the top worst effected countries of the world. It is important to keep in mind vulnerabilities of climate change.
