SEMINAR

President Mamnoon Hussain says China Pakistan Economic Corridor will bring economic revolution in the country as well as in the region.

He was addressing a seminar on CPEC in Islamabad today.

He urged educational institutions and scientists to play their due role in overcoming the challenges confronting the country. 

Addressing the seminar, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said that CPEC will enhance economic activities in the region and integrate regional economy. He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor will not only benefit Pakistan and China but the whole region.

The Minister said that the youth of the country will have to play their due role to make the CPEC project successful. He said that Pak-China relations are model for the entire world and guarantor for peace in the region.

Speaking on this occasion the Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said development is possible now a day through regional connectivity.He said CPEC will promote regional connectivity and expedite development in the region.

The Ambassador said the CPEC project is corridor of prosperity and development.

 

CONFERENCE

Pakistan-Bahrain Business opportunities conference begins in Islamabad tomorrow.

A delegation of businessmen and investors from Gulf countries led by Bahrain's Commerce Minister Zayed R. Alzayan has arrived in Islamabad to attend the conference.

The conference is jointly organized by Ministry of Commerce and Pakistan Embassy in Bahrain.  Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain Javed Malik said it is for the first time that such a large business delegation arrived from any Gulf country at Pakistan.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange started business with a bullish trend today.

The KSE-100 Index has crossed 48,800 points with a positive change of 300 points.

 

SHAHBAZ

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif says 2017 is the year of materialization of promises.

He was talking to elected representatives of PML-N in Lahore today. He said there is no room for the negative politics in the country and people have rejected politcs of baseless allegations.

The Chief Minister said motto of PML-N government is service of the nation.

                     

MURAD

Sindh government says it has approved 600-busses for the Intra-City Bus Project.

Decision to this effect was taken in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi today.

Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Sindh Nasir Hussain Shah told the meeting that work on Karachi Circular Railway and Green Line Bus Rapid Transport Project are also underway with full swing.

Addressing the meeting Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the government will provide financial assistance to the transporters to operate Intra-City Buses in the province.

 

SHUTDOWN

In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, against the brutal killing of four youth by Indian troops in Chadoora area of Budgam district.

The Indian troops shot dead three youth Zahid Rashid, Saqib Ahmad and Ashfaq Ahmad by opening fire on demonstrators at Chadoora yesterday.

Over thirty people had sustained injuries in the troops’ firing on the protesters. Another Kashmiri youth was killed when Indian forces’ personnel blasted a house in the area.

 

UK-BREXIT

British Prime Minister Theresa May has signed the letter that will formally begin the UK's departure from the European Union.

Giving official notice under the Lisbon Treaty, it will be delivered to European Council president Donald Tusk. The letter will be delivered by the British ambassador to the EU today.

It follows the last year referendum which resulted in a vote to leave the EU.

 

AFGHANISTAN

Afghanistan plans to double the number of elite special forces in the country.

Government officials said that currently 17,000 troops are performing their duty as special forces but due to persistent attacks of Taliban insurgents number of these forces will be increased.

Defence Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said commando forces have to be strengthened and to be better equipped. Afghanistan has 300,000 forces among them special forces are carrying out offensive operations across the country.

Meanwhile Iranian President Hassan Rouhani after holding talks with Russian President Viladimir Putin in Moscow said we discussed cooperation to fight against terrorism.
