The National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research has been informed that sufficient stock of wheat is available in the country to meet the future requirement till the arrival of the new corp.

The meeting of the committee was held in Lahore on Wednesday with MNA Malik Shakir Bashir Awan in the chair.

The Committee was briefed by Managing Director PASSCO about the step taken for procurement of wheat during the next season.

MD, PASSCO apprised the Committee that PASSCO procure wheat every year as per target allocated by the Government by issuing bardana without security to small growers' up to 50 bags on personal guarantee of member of supervisory Committee.

He said that Bardana will be issued to the genuine growers and farmers by depositing 150 rupees per bag in shape of demand draft or pay order. The amount of draft or pay order will be returned to the framer immediately by the Center Incharge on receipt of wheat at the purchase centre.

He said PASSCO has made concerted efforts to determine the general grower and eliminate the role of Arthies and middleman.
