Dr. Murtaza Mughal (President, Pakistan Economy Watch):
We have a long standing belief that Pakistan is a lucrative destination for foreign investment. The Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab understand business matters and they are addressing the problems of foreign investors. The business men from Bahrain and other countries are coming to Pakistan.
Dr. Noor Fatima (IR Expert):
In 2013, the incumbent government stated that it wants to bring business community to Pakistan. It showed their intent to attract foreign investment. CPEC has spill over impact and it has attracted more than 50 countries to Pakistan. Pakistan is providing basis for foreign direct investment.
Dr. Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig (Economic Expert):
This is a positive development in its own right. The Prime Minister held meetings with their representatives. This will bring foreign investment and projects under CPEC will be offered to the investors. The countries like Russia, Iran, Gulf states and Central Asian republics want to benefit from this regional connectivity initiative.
Dr. Humaiyun Iqbal Shami (Chairmen, Pakistan Economic Forum):
Bahrain, Qatar and UAE have used their resources for industrial investment in recent past. They have worked for industry, tourism and many other sectors. There are financial groups in Bahrain and Pakistan is located in its neighborhood. There are financial hubs in Bahrain but it lacks business investment opportunities. There were already historical ties between Pakistan and Bahrain but CPEC has open new avenues of cooperation.
