Companies to not activate SIMs on old pattern from Friday
All mobile phone companies have been directed to activate SIMs only after bio-metric verification from first of the next month.
The cellular phone companies will not activate Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) on old pattern from Friday.
According to a notification of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, all mobile phone companies have been directed to stop issuing SIMs on old pattern and activate them only after bio-metric verification from first of the next month.
The notification said from Friday, SIMs sale and customer service activities throughout the country will only be possible through company-owned customer service centers, franchises and authorized retail outlets equipped with bio-metric verification machines.
The buyer of the SIM will give thumb impression on the bio-metric device for online verification by NADRA and upon successful verification; the SIM will be delivered to the purchaser.
The newly issued SIM will be activated within 30 minutes of successful bio-metric verification.
