The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire to end escalation in northwest Syria.

In a statement, UN Secretary General's spokesperson Stephane Dujarric reiterated the Secretary-General's grave concerns about risk to civilians from escalating military actions.

The statement comes after Turkish soldiers were martyred in air strikes in Idlib province.

Meanwhile, the United States has also stressed for urgent action to end conflict in Syria.                                     

The call was made in a statement by spokesperson of the US State Department.
