UN acknowledges Pakistan's contribution towards peace in Afghanistan
Special Representative for Afghanistan Jan Kubis met Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi in Islamabad on Monday.
They discussed recent developments in Afghanistan and Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
The Special Representative was apprised of the Adviser’s recent visit to Kabul and talks with the new Afghan leadership,
He was told Pakistan is engaging with Afghanistan across a broad range of issues including peace and security, trade and economic ties, reconstruction and rehabilitation, and regional cooperation.
They reaffirmed Pakistan's support for peaceful, united and prosperous Afghanistan.
Jan Kubis acknowledged Pakistan’s important contribution towards peace and stability and deeper engagement on issues of trade and economic cooperation with Afghanistan.
He assured UN’s continued engagement and consultations with Pakistan on all relevant issues, including economic development and repatriation of Afghan refugees to their home land.
