Morocco has announced the withdrawal of its forces from a UN buffer zone in the disputed Western Sahara territory.

The announcement came after a telephonic talks between Morocco's King Mohammed VI and UN secretary General Antonio Guterres.

The move will reduce military tensions in a remote area of Guerguerat in Western Sahara near Mauritania.

In a statement the spokesman for the UN Secretary General called on all parties to unconditionally withdraw all armed elements from the Buffer Strip as soon as possible.
