ISPR
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said terrorism being a transnational threat can only be defeated through intelligence sharing and coordinated and effective border management.

He was speaking at a meeting of Quadrilateral Counter Terrorism Coordination Mechanism held at Dushanbe, Tajikistan today.

The Army Chief highlighted Pakistan's achievements in fight against terrorism for eliminating terrorists' safe havens from its soil.

The meeting was attended by senior military leadership of a member countries, including China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan.

All the four countries welcomed the QCCM initiative and expressed hope that an inclusive and cooperative regional approach will prove best for eradication of terrorism.

The participants also signed an outline cooperative mechanism which will come into force after its endorsement by respective governments.

On sidelines of the event, Qamar Javed Bajwa met Afghan Chief of General Staff General Sharif Yaftali and discussed situation in Afghanistan.

The Army Chief, while assuring fullest cooperation to Afghanistan, said his country cannot bring Afghan war into Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan has already cleared all its areas indiscriminately and has started unilateral border security measures, including fencing border.


Qamar Bajwa said Pakistan is open to any suggestion that facilitate peace in Afghanistan. He proposed to form a Pak-Afg Army working group to jointly work and formulate security recommendations for government level discussion aimed at addressing mutual concerns.

The Afghan Chief of General Staff agreed to the proposal and thanked General Bajwa for his relentless efforts towards peace.


PM
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has expressed the confidence the energy issues faced by the country would be resolved soon and loadshedding will be completely eliminated by November this year.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the second LNG terminal at Port Qasim in Karachi today.

The Prime Minister said the inauguration of this terminal is a great success in the right direction.
He said the terminal has so far handled one hundred LNG cargo ships with 6.1 million tons of LNG.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said previous three governments made several attempts to introduce LNG source of energy but failed.

He said with capacity to inject 600 mmscfd RLNG in the
system, the new terminal has emerged as the single largest gas
source in Pakistan.

He said with the supply of RLNG, the country is saving about
1.5 billion dollars each year as compared to other expensive energy resources like diesel or furnace oil.

He said the terminal will facilitate transporting LNG to power house for producing cheap energy.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that functioning this terminal will be equally beneficial for industrial sector and the common man.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was briefed that the work on this project began in July 2016 and completed in a record period of one year.

He was further informed that the terminal will formally start functioning on 1st of November this year.
The terminal has a capacity to handle seven hundred fifty million standard cubic feet gas per day.


ASIF
Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif says Pakistan is a sovereign country and it will continue its efforts to defeat the terrorism bravely.

Talking to media in Sialkot today, he said there will be no effect of US President Donald Trump's statement on Pakistan's economy.

The Minister said the National Assembly, in its session on Tuesday, will discuss the statement of US President regarding Pakistan.

He said the United States has not been providing any assistance to Pakistan for the last several years to curb terrorism in the region.

Meanwhile, talking to APP, Khawaja Asif said no other country has done more than Pakistan to eliminate terrorism.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan will continue its efforts to wipe out terrorism with commitment by taking action against terrorists without any discrimination.

The Minister said after parliament's session, he would visit regional countries for bilateral consultation on current issues.


FO
The visit of a US delegation has been postponed until a mutually convenient time.

This was stated by Foreign Offices Spokesperson to a media query.

He said the visit has been postponed at Pakistan's request.

 

PAK-CHINA
China has reaffirmed its continuing and firm support to Pakistan and vowed to further strengthen the all weather strategic cooperative friendship with it.

The assurance was given by Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi while talking to Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in Beijing during her recent visit to China.

The Chinese foreign minister lauded Pakistan’s contributions and great sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism.

He said international community should also fully recognize these efforts.

The entire gambit of bilateral relations, regional, global issues, as well as the situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, were discussed.


JOHN-PAK
Commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan General John Nicholson says the United States wants a peaceful solution in Afghanistan and hopes that Taliban would enter the peace process in the country.

In an exclusive interview with Afghan media outlet TOLO news, General John Nicholson said civilian casualties are a real tragedy in Afghanistan.

The US commander again levelled baseless allegations that Afghan Taliban leadership has presence in Pakistan.

Pakistan has strongly rejected these allegations and maintained that Islamabad has taken military action against militants of all hue and colors. Pakistan has successfully completed operation Khyber IV, eliminating terrorists in Rajgal and Shawal valleys

The top security council of Pakistan, National Security Committee chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has outrightly rejected the specific allegations and insinuation made by President Trump against Pakistan.

 

 

INDIA-CHINA
As tensions between China and India persist over border dispute the Indian army chief General Bipin Rawat has warned that its troops on border will remain alert as two sides have not been able to come up with its resolution.

He expressed these views in a ceremony titled "India's challenges in the current geo-strategic construct" at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

General Bipin Rawat said during flag meetings with China, the chinese side would be convinced that troops of both the countries should go back to the pre-June 16 position at Doklam plateau.

He pointed out that such situation can emerge again and again and gave a message to Indian troops not let down the guard.

Commenting on the recent scuffle between the troops of both the countries in the Ladakh region, he said both countries had a joint mechanism to resolve such issues amicably.

 

 

KASHMIR
In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama district, today, against the killing of three youth by Indian troops following an attack on Police Lines in the district.

All shops and business establishments were closed while public transport remained off the road in the district.

Shutdown was also observed in Bandipora district against the mysterious killing of one 24-year Muzaffar Ahmad Parrey.


INDIA
India has deployed thousands of riot police and shut down internet services in Punjab and Haryana states, as court will hold special hearing against a religious personality Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh tomorrow.

The judge will decide the case in a special hearing.

After deadly protests, at least 38 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the violence ensuring the conviction of Gurmeet Singh in Haryana during last three days.

BOXING
In a boxing fight in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather has defeated Conor McGregor champion of UFC by technical knockout in the 10th round, with the referee stepping in to stop the fight.

He secured his 50th victory by maintaining his unbeaten record.
