Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in Moscow.

     

They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.

 

SHAHBAZ

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.

 

In a statement in Lahore, he said mature people have rejected the negative politics of some elements.

 

Shahbaz Sharif said people are well aware of these elements, who are working for their personal interests.

 

He said people will reject all those elements in the general election next year, who are involved in negative politics.

 

COURT

A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Saqib Nisar has adjourned the hearing of Mashal Khan murder case for fifteen days.

  

A report regarding progress in investigation into the  murder of Mashal was presented before the court today.

 

The apex court was informed that thirty six accused have so far been arrested in connection with the murder while the main culprit is still at large.

       

The court directed that the evidence should be sent to Lahore for forensic tests.

 

BALLOTING

Computerized balloting for selection of Hajj pilgrims under government scheme will be held tomorrow.

 

According to official sources,  Ministry of Religious Affairs  has so far received 335,353 applications under the government scheme. 

 

One hundred, seven thousand five hundred and twenty six pilgrims will perform Hajj under the government scheme this year, while seventy one thousand will perform pilgrimage through private tour operators.

 

The successful applicants would be informed through letters and text messages, whereas the results of successful candidates would also be available at www.mora.gov.pk and www.hajjinfo.org

 

OPERATION

Three terrorists were killed in an operation by Counter Terrorism Department in district Khanewal today.

 

Quoting official sources, Radio Pakistan Multan correspondent reports that the operation was conducted at Lakhi Tibbi area of Jahanian in Khanewal district.

 

A cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists. 

 

ARRESTS

In Karachi, two culprits have been killed  in an encounter with police in Lyari.

 

Meanwhile,  twenty four criminals, including a target killer have been arrested during different raids in various parts of the city.

 

Weapons and snatched valuables have also been recovered from them.

 

FISHERMEN

Pakistan Maritime Security Agency has arrested twenty nine Indian fishermen for violating Pakistani territorial waters.

 

According to a Spokesman of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, five boats have also been taken into custody.

 

Later, the arrested Indian fishermen were handed over to police.

 

IHK

In occupied Kashmir, five Indian soldiers including two officers were killed in an attack in Kupwara district, today.

 

According to Indian media, five army personnel including a captain and a Junior Commissioned Officer were killed and several others injured in the attack on army camp at Panjgaon in Chokibal area of the district.

 

Meanwhile the High Court Bar Association in Indian held Kashmir, while condemning the formation of extremist Hindus’ private army, "Jan Sena",   has urged the peace-loving people of the world to take strong notice of the move designed to kill and maim the unarmed Kashmiris. 

 

MEDIA-BAN

In occupied Kashmir, puppet regime has banned social media services in the territory.

 

The ban has been imposed on 22 social media services, including Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp for one month.

 

US-NAFTA

The United States has informed Mexico and Canada that  President Donald Trump will not immediately pull out his country from the North American Free Trade Agreement.

       

President Trump said the United States does not terminate NAFTA at this time. The leaders of the three countries agreed to proceed swiftly, according to their required internal procedures.
