President appoints Lt. Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa as new Army Chief and Lt. General Zubair Hayat as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee
Lt. General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been appointed as new Chief of Army Staff after being promoted to the rank of General. President Mamnoon Hussain has made the appointment on the advice of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister House, Lt. General Zubair Mahmood Hayat has also been promoted as four star general and appointed as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
Pakistan Reiterates Commitment to Facilitate Afghan Peace Process
Talking to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Ashgabat on the sidelines of the Global Conference on Sustainable Transport, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment for peace and stability in Afghanistan. Pakistan would continue its serious efforts for facilitating the peace process, including through the Quadrilateral Coordination Group. The two leaders discussed the need of cooperation to combat the scourge of terrorism, which was a common enemy and a serious challenge to peace in both countries, and the region. President Ghani thanked the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s new development package of 500 million dollars announced at Brussels last month and for hosting millions of Afghan refugees for more than three decades.

"Civil -Military leadership are on same page": Marriyum
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that civil and military leadership are on the same page to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country. In an interview with Radio Pakistan's News and Current Affairs Channel tonight, she said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has appointed the best army officers to lead the army, and the new army chief will continue the mission of his predecessor to achieve the objectives of National Action Plan. The government took bold steps to control terrorism according to vision of the Prime Minister. The incidents of terrorism have significantly reduced in last three year.
COAS pays farewell visits to Naval and Air Headquarters
On arrival to Naval and Air Headquarters, he was received by Naval Chief Admiral Zaka Ullah Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman respectively. Former Cuban President Fidel Castro Dies
Former Cuban President has died at the age of 90 in Havana. The Communist ex-President had been in poor health for many years. He was President of the Caribbean island for more than 30 years. Pakistan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Hundreds of Thousands Rally Against South Korea's President
In Seoul, hundreds of thousands of people rallied today for a fifth week of protests to demand President Park Geun-Hye's resignation over a corruption scandal. A parliamentary vote to impeach Park can also take place as early as next week as a growing number of ruling party politicians back the opposition-led campaign to oust the president. Park's presidency has been rocked by allegations that her close friend Choi Soon-sil, used her ties to the leader to meddle in state affairs and wield improper influence.
