PM addresses 'Global Sustainable Transport Conference'- Pakistan says Regional connectivity and Economic integration are the key pillars of its foreign policy
PM also meets Afghan President in Ashgabat on the sidelines of the Global Conference on Sustainable Transport
“In the emerging global and regional environment Pakistan is happy to play its role as gateway to Central Asia and Peaceful neighborhood has remained the norm of Pakistan`s foreign policy. CPEC is a package of multiple infrastructure and development projects and will boost connectivity within the region and integrate China, Central Asia, South Asia and Middle East."
PM announced Pakistan joining of Ashgabat Agreement and Lapis Lazuli Corridor. He hoped that the agreement will prove milestone in achieving the dream of peaceful co existence through integration of economies, markets and cultures in South Asia, Central Asia and beyond. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in his address said modern transportation is imperative for bolstering international relations and overall progress of the global community.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment for peace and stability in Afghanistan. He reiterated Pakistan’s keen desire for deepening engagement with Afghanistan stressing on the need for enhancing bilateral political interaction, security coordination, trade and transit, connectivity and people to people exchanges. Pakistan would continue its serious efforts for facilitating the peace process, including through the Quadrilateral Coordination Group. President Ghani thanked the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s new development package of 500 million dollars announced at Brussels last month and for hosting millions of Afghan refugees for more than three decades
