The United States has imposed more sanctions against Russia for supporting the Syrian government.

The US Treasury Department announced that four Russian individuals and six entities, including a bank, have been added to Washington’s sanctions list.

Moscow has slammed the latest round of sanctions, accusing Washington of playing “geo-political games” on Syria.

On the other side, Russia sent an advanced missile system to Syria to protect its jets operating there. It has also pledged Russian air force would keep flying missions near Turkish air space.

Meanwhile, Russia has tightened control over the imports of Turkish foodstuffs and agricultural products, amid tensions between Moscow and Ankara over Turkey’s recent downing of a Russian fighter jet in Syria.

The United States and Europe both urged calm and continued dialogue between Turkey and Russia.
