United States has claimed to have killed al Qaeda leader Qari Yasin in Afghanistan, who was accused of involvement in an attack on a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, in 2009.

In a statement on Sunday, the Pentagon said that the strike took place on 19th of this month in Paktika province.

In his remarks the US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said, the death of Qari Yasin is evidence that terrorists who defame Islam and deliberately target innocent people will not escape justice.
