In Syria, the Islamic State group today ordered residents of Raqqa to evacuate the city following reports that a dam contested by U.S.-backed forces upstream on the Euphrates River may collapse.

The militants said coalition airstrikes have weakened the Tabqa Dam and water level behind it is rising.

Meanwhile, a leading Syrian opposition group has called on the U.S.-led coalition to stop targeting residential areas in and around the city.
