Analysts on Telephone:

Qamar Yousafzai (Senior Analyst):

Former Afghan President has always opposed the fencing on Pak-Afghan border. Today, COAS Gen Qamar has rightly ordered the fencing of Pak-Afghan border and the border areas of Bajaur and Mohmand agencies being high threat zones are the first priority in this regard. Basically, Afghan Taliban are not involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan whereas Indian agencies are involved in terrorism in our country. Afghan government is not cooperating with Pakistan to eliminate menace of terrorism and to stop the cross-border movement of the terrorists. Border Management System is mandatory to eliminate this menace. Peaceful border is in best interest of both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Masood-ur-Rehman (Analyst):

It is good news that COAS has directed to initiate fencing on Pak-Afghan border. There will be a proper checking and monitoring of people moving to and from Afghanistan. This fence will also be helpful to overcome smuggling as well. Indian agencies have been involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan and Pakistan has strong evidence of Indian involvement in Pakistan. Pakistani security agencies have also apprehended a serving Indian officer Kulbhushan Yadav. This is the main reason that India is also opposing the fencing on Pak-Afghan border as it will face difficulties to enter in Pakistan. In my view, the fencing should be initiated and completed on emergency basis.
