23 killed in Delhi anti-Muslim violence
February 26, 2020

In India, twenty three people were killed and over 150 injured in deadly violence against Muslims across several parts of Delhi.

According to reports, the clashes first broke out between protesters for and against a controversial citizenship law which later turned into communal riots.

Muslim homes and shops are being targeted by violent mobs while mosques have also been vandalised in the clashes.

There are also reports of torching buildings and vehicles and attacking journalists.

The unrest is centred around Muslim-majority neighbourhoods including Maujpur, Mustafabad, Jaffrabad,  Karawal Nagar and Shiv Vihar.

Opposition leader Sonia Gandhi has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah, saying he is responsible for the violence.
