PM

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has termed the ongoing accountability against him and his family as a conspiracy against the development process in the country.

Talking to media on his arrival in London, he expressed the confidence that this conspiracy will also be foiled.

The Prime Minister described the proceedings of the Joint Investigation Team as a joke and said everyone knows the history of these JITs, which are getting information from our opponents.

Nawaz Sharif said during the investigation, the JIT could not answer any of his question.

The Prime Minister said precious time of Pakistan is being wasted in the name of so called accountability. He said no one could point finger at him while remaining Chief Minster and three-time Prime Minister of the country.

Nawaz Sharif said infact the opponents cannot digest the rapid development and progress of the country; therefore, they are hatching conspiracies against this process. He said they were defeated in 2013 elections, and will again taste it next year. He said the opponents of PML-N lost almost ninety-five percent of by-elections and after sensing their defeat in the next general elections, they are again out to hatch conspiracies.

The Prime Minister said whenever Pakistan comes in take-off position, the opponents start creating hurdles in this process. He regretted that these elements blocked the visit of Chinese President that resulted in one and a half year delay in implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said we will make every effort to steer he country out of crises. He said due to our concrete measures, load-shedding is about to end.

A government spokesman says Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family performed Umrah on their personal expenses.

In a statement, he dismissed as baseless media reports that the Prime Minister, his family members and relatives performed Umrah on the government expenses.

He said the Prime Minister and his family spends the last ten days of the holy month of Ramazan in Saudi Arabia and bears all the expenses themselves in that regard.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says his country will continue playing its role for development and progress in Pakistan.

He was talking to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

 

Wang Yi said CPEC will bring about peace and prosperity in the region.

He said both the countries want to promote trade and industry. He praised speedy progress and economic stability in Punjab and efforts of Shahbaz Sharif for good governance.

The Chief Minister said friendship between the two countries has been converted into economic cooperation, and the two countries hold identical opinion on regional and international matters.

He said a new era of development and progress has ushered in Pakistan due to projects of CPEC.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan contacted Inspector General FC Balochistan Major General Nadeem Ahmed over phone and sought details regarding the recent terrorist attack in Quetta.

The IG told the minister that two dangerous and high profile terrorists of an organization were killed in a successful operation in the vicinity of Quetta city.

The minister appreciated the efforts of FC personnel for holding a successful operation against these terrorists.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has vowed to continue counter terrorism operations.

Chairing a high level meeting in Rawalpindi in the backdrop of recent spate of terrorist attacks in the country, he said now is the time for other stakeholders particularly Afghanistan to do more..

The meeting was briefed in detail about the recent incidents and their manifest linkages with terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan operating under the patronage of NDS and RAW.

The Army Chief said that since 9 11, Pakistan is one of the few countries, which have borne the brunt of terrorism and made monumental sacrifices to effectively neutralize this menace. He regretted that Pakistan's sacrifices against terrorism are not well acknowledged and is often subjected to demand of 'Do More'.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa reiterated that Pakistan will continue its efforts to positively contribute towards regional peace and stability and shall not allow use of its territory against any other country.

He expressed his resolve to eliminate the menace to ensure safety and security of Pakistan and its resilient people who are real strength of their brave security forces.

Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider says India is trying to destabilize Pakistan by perpetrating terrorism and financing terrorists.

Talking to delegations from various parts of AJK in Mirpur, he said the confessions by Indian agent Kulbhushan Jadhav have exposed the Indian designs to destabilize Pakistan and sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The AJK Prime Minister said Pakistan has already taken up the issue of Indian involvement in subversive and terrorist activities on its soil at various international forums.

The UN Security Council has urged Haiti's government to take on a more active role in the country's development, as international peacekeepers prepare to pull out after a 13-year mission.

In a statement during the 48-hours visit of Security Council members to Haiti, the Bolivian envoy Sacha Sergio Soliz said   that we expect a stronger level of national ownership and leadership from the authorities in Haiti.

During their visit, members of the Security Council met with President Jovenel Moise and lawmakers, as well as leaders from civil society groups and the private sector.
