Oil tanker incident in Ahmadpur Sharqia: Government terms it as a national tragedy and expresses grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives
The incident occurred when the oil tanker turned turtle and oil leakage started. A large number of people of nearby localities rushed to the scene to collect oil. Meanwhile, the tanker caught fire and exploded resulting into killings and burn injuries. According to ISPR, the incident site has been cleared and traffic restored at national highway near Ahmadpur Sharqia.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, winding up his engagements in London, has decided to immediately return to country. According to PM Office, the prime minister is leaving for Pakistan in the wake of Bahawalpur tragic incident of oil spill. The prime minister noted that the terror incidents on Jumma-tul-Wida and Ahmedpur Sharqia tragedy had grieved the nation immensely. He appealed to the nation to pray for the departed souls and for early recovery of the injured.
