Prime Minister left for Maldives on a three-day official visit this morning

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif left for Maldives this morning on a three-day visit to that country at the invitation of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. He will be Chief Guest at the celebrations of 52nd Independence Day of Maldives being celebrated on Wednesday. The Prime Minister will also hold official talks with Maldivian President. A number of MoUs and agreements will be signed during the visit for cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Prime Minister’s visit to Maldives is important for the bilateral relations of Pakistan and Maldives. It is an honour for Pakistan and the Prime Minister as well that he will be the chief guest in the ceremony of 52nd Independence Day of Maldives.

Present government has an unfaltering resolve to deal with terrorism: Maryium

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb said all provinces and state institutions are on one-page in the fight against terrorism. Speaking at a panel discussion on a private TV channel, she said major initiatives against terrorism, including National Action Plan, Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Radd-ul-Fasaad and Khyber-IV, have achieved tremendous success. The Minister of State said the present government had an unfaltering resolve to deal with terrorism, which led to ultimate action against terrorist outfits and their sympathizers.

“Pakistan army has successfully eliminated the terrorist network by launching operations Zarb-e-Azb and Raddul Fassad. Besides, intelligence based operations were also conducted in South Punjab and other areas of the country. Currently, Operation Khyber 4 is in progress to in order to rid the area of miscreants. Occasional incidents of terrorism can occur but the broader threat of this scourge has been eliminated successfully. Pakistan is in the crosshair of enemy at this moment. Pakistan’s foes have strategic objective to create instability and chaos in Pakistan. This list also includes Afghanistan and the United States, despite the fact that Pakistan has rendered numerous sacrifices for keeping peace and tranquility in these two countries. In Khyber 4 operation, Pakistan Army has recaptured the strategic heights which went control under the militants for a brief period of time.
