National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defence Production has been informed that export potential of defence industry has grown substantially and is playing an increasing role towards economic performance of the country. The Committee, led by its Chairman Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, visited Defence Export Promotion Organization in Islamabad on Tuesday. Director-General of the organization Major-General Ahmad Mahmood Hayat told the Committee that these industries are capable to export their competitive defence equipment to perspective international buyers.

CDWP approves several projects of billions of rupees in various fields

Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved several projects of billions of rupees in various sectors including health, education and transport. The meeting of the CDWP held in Islamabad on Monday with Planning Minister in the chair. The CDWP also approved Sustainable Development Goals Unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, institutional Strengthening and Efficiency Enhancement of Planning Commission, and Monitoring of PSDP Financed Project.

Oil output increased 3pc in FY17
Pakistan’s oil production grew three per cent to 88,189 barrels per day (bpd) in 2016-17, according to a research note issued by Topline Securities on Monday. Temporary shutdowns suffered by some major oil companies affected production at the start of 2017. As a result, oil production averaged 95,000bpd initially.
