Jirga expresses support to operation in N. Waziristan
Tribal elders of North Waziristan say they want to get rid of miscreants.
A tribal Jirga of North Waziristan elders called on the Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch in Islamabad on Friday.
The Jirga was led by Maulana Sher Muhammad Torikhel Wazir, grand nephew and spiritual successor of Haji Mirza Ali Khan.
Talking to the jirga , the Minister said the government's first and foremost priority is to take care of the IDPs and ensure their earliest possible return.
Maulana Sher Muhammad informed the Minister that local tribesmen are fully supportive of the government's action and want to get rid of the miscreants who had held the people of these areas hostage for the last many years.
He said the people of North Waziristan are ready to undergo any hardship for the cause of peace in Pakistan and requested the government to take all measures to not only clear the area of miscreants but also to stop their re-emergence.
