Islamabad not handed over to Army: Rashid
Information Minister says Army has been given responsibility for security in sensitive areas of Islamabad after operation.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has dismissed the impression that the control of security of Islamabad has been handed over to the Army.
In a statement issued on Friday evening, he said the Army has been given responsibility to maintain law and order in sensitive areas in the federal capital in the wake of the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.
He said the Army has been given legal and constitutional protection to perform this duty. He said the Army was also provided legal cover to deal with terrorists and miscreants.
The Information Minister said the step has nothing to do with political activities.
