Schools in Punjab to be shifted on solar energy: CM Shahbaz
In the first phase of Off-Grid Solution Programme, more than 4,000 primary schools in rural areas will be shifted on solar energy.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved shifting of government schools in the province on solar energy under "Off-Grid Solution Programme."
This was decided at a high level meeting in Lahore on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said in the first phase of Off-Grid Solution Programme, more than four thousand primary schools in rural areas will be shifted on solar energy.
He also asked to prepare a feasible programme for provision of solar home solution to low income families. He also directed solar conversion projects for Basic Health Units and agriculture tube-wells.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also asked to prepare a pilot project for provision of solar and bio gas energy to the rural areas.
He directed to review launching of the same programme in Thal as well.
