Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Sunday evening and apprised him of power supply situation in the country in the backdrop of the massive shutdown that started last night.

He said the system is gradually being brought back to normal as three plants have been connected to the national grid and within few hours the system would be largely restored.

He said the disruption was caused due to three sabotage incidents taking place during last 10 days, two of which during last two nights. Attack taking place on night before last was at a gas pipeline which OGDCL promptly restored in just 13 hours.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Water and Power as well as concerned provincial authorities to complete the restoration work on war footings.
