New Zealand offers assistance to Pakistan to develop hydel potential
The offer was made during a meeting of New Zealand Foreign Minister with Pakistan Finance Minister in Islamabad.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the government has taken difficult decisions and carried out structural reform to bring macro-economic stability in the country.
Talking to New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully in Islamabad‚ he said Pakistan is working on a comprehensive plan to overcome energy crisis.
He said River Indus has great hydel potential and Pakistan has sought international assistance and investment.
The finance minister said public sector entities are causing a huge loss of 500 billion rupees per annum. This can be saved and utilized for investment in developing human resources‚ health and education.
The New Zealand foreign minister offered skills and technology in assisting Pakistan in developing its hydel potential.
