Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz says all the member countries have confirmed their participation in the Economic Cooperation Organization summit to be held in Islamabad on Wednesday. He was briefing newsmen in Islamabad today.

The Advisor said the theme of the 13th ECO summit is 'Regional Prosperity and Economic Cooperation' with the aim to promote regional connectivity, road infrastructure, transportation, cyber linkage, production and trade.

He said this year's summit is highly important, as it will also discuss ways to link China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with other regional corridors.

He said the senior officials of the member countries will hold meetings before the summit.

He said the representatives of Organization of Islamic Cooperation will attend the summit as observers.

Earlier, Pakistan hosted the ECO summit in 1995.

Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan says the media has the most crucial role to play in disseminating credible information keeping in view national interest.

He was talking to newsmen in Islamabad today.

He urged the media to ban broadcast news about terrorist organizations so that their agenda is not propagated.

ARREST

Seventy-eight suspects were arrested during search operations in different areas of Peshawar and Charsadda today.

Fifty-eight suspected people were apprehended in different areas of Peshawar, while twenty suspects, including five proclaimed offenders, were busted in Serdehri area of district Charsadda.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from them.

PROJECTS

Most of the coal and wind power projects being executed in Sindh are likely to be completed this year.

Official sources told Radio Pakistan Karachi correspondent Altaf Pirzado that seven wind power projects of a total capacity of 350 megawatts electricity are in final stage, and they are expected to start generating electricity within two months. 

 Eighty percent work on two coal-based power plants with a total capacity of 1320 megawatts at Port Qasim, Karachi has been completed. One of these two plants will start producing electricity late this year, while the other will become functional in June next year.

 These projects will help reduce electricity shortage in the country.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says ongoing development projects will be completed within stipulated timeframe.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore today, he said the government will fulfil its promises of development in the country.

The Chief Minister said the opponents are frightened that their politics will come to the end with the completion of the development projects.

EXHIBITION

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah inaugurated Abilities Exhibition 2017 in Karachi today.

Provincial Special Educations Department has organized the event in collaboration with Karachi Vocational Training Centre with the aim to bring the people with disabilities on the forefront and help them showcase their talent.

 Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the provincial government will provide financial and moral support to the special children to prove their worth.

Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, has said that India is biased against the Kashmiris.

In a statement in Srinagar, Aasiya Andrabi said this while commenting on the acquittal of three Kashmiri youth, Muhammad Rafeeq Shah, Muhammad Hussain Fazili and Tariq Ahmad Dar, who were falsely implicated in 2005 for the Delhi serial blasts.

She said, the court verdict gives an idea about how much bias New Delhi towards the Kashmiris.

LEAGUE

In the Pakistan Super League, two matches are being played in Dubai today.

In the first match, Karachi Kings will play against Lahore Qalandars while in another match Peshawar Zalmi will take on Quetta Gladiators.
