Renowned television actress Madeeha Gauhar died of cancer in Lahore. She was 62.

Madeeha Gauhar also worked for women rights and had formed "Ajoka Theatre" to present stage dramas aimed to create awareness among the women folk. 

Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has condoled the sad demise of prominent theatre and television artist Madeeha Gauhar.

Paying tributes to Madeeha Gauhar the Minister said her contribution to highlight social issues through drama would be long remembered.   

In a condolence statement, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned actress Madeeha Gauhar.
