National Film and Culture Policy to be announced on Monday

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb has said Pakistan's first National Film and Culture Policy will be announced in Islamabad on Monday (Feb 26).

She was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the CPEC Cultural Caravan Festival at Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad on Sunday.

The Minister of State said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is expected to announce the policy.

She said China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a flagship project of One Belt One Road vision which will ensure prosperity and development in the region.

This festival is part of three-day National Arts and Culture Festival that started yesterday.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the CPEC festival depicted Chinese and Pakistani culture and heritage on one screen.

She said Pak-China friendship is based on mutual respect and love and is a wonderful part of our history.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said cultural agreement signed between Pakistan and China is a unique agreement ensuring the exchange of experiences of several sectors.

She said Pakistan will take part Shanghai Film Festival. She said CPEC is a way of cultural harmony between the two countries.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said Pakistan's first Culture and Film Policy will be announced tomorrow at the concluding ceremony of the three day festival.

Paying rich tribute to the artists participating in the festival, the Minister of State said the artists have proved to be the true ambassadors of peace imparting the real image of Pakistan and its rich culture.

She appreciated the PNCA management for its wonderful effort to conduct the festival and artists for their commendable performance.

Earlier, Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a way to establish people to people contact of both countries.

He said Chinese government is keen to start CPEC scholarship, training, theatre, film and cultural cooperation initiatives with Pakistan this year.

He said the governments of Pakistan and China are taking bold measures for success of the mega project.

The Chinese ambassador said support of people of the two countries is inevitable for the success of the CPEC project.

He said that this project will ensure the long term benefit and prosperity of the people of Pakistan.

In his welcome note, Director General PNCA Jamaal Shah said this festival has brought closer the artists community of the two countries and a film co-production of Pakistan and China will also be started in April this year.

The program showcased the works of a caravan of Chinese and Pakistani artists who had travelled from Xian in China to Gwadar in Pakistan documenting the cultural heritage along the length and breadth of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The CPEC festival aims at promoting creative economy by focusing on potential bilateral trade and cooperation in culture and creative industries.

Colorful regional performances depicting folk heritage of Pakistan and short films, documentaries and photo montage were hallmark of the festival.

These were followed by inauguration of art and photography exhibition and a CPEC Cultural Fashion show at the National Art Gallery of PNCA this evening.

The CPEC Cultural festival and the National Artists Convention that was inaugurated yesterday are the two programs under the three day grand Art and Culture Festival which will conclude on Monday (Feb 26).
