Pakistan has called for intensified efforts to prevent weaponization of outer-space to avert a grave danger to international peace and security.

The call was made by Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations Tehmina Janjua while speaking at a debate on Outer Space matters in Geneva.

She said, the development and deployment of anti-ballistic missile systems and their integration into space assets have added a worrying dimension to the outer space-related issues.

She said there was a growing use of outer space by many States, both for civilian and military purposes that enhance the potential risk of its weaponization.
