Pakistan and Turkey have expressed their resolve to upgrade relations in all area particularly trade and economy.

This has been stated in a joint statement issued at the conclusion of the visit of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Pakistan.

The statement said the two sides desire to enhance cooperation in social sectors especially culture‚ education and tourism.

The two countries agreed to maintain active political consultative process as well as regular visits of high officials‚ parliamentarians‚ businessmen‚ civil society and media representatives.

The two countries agreed to facilitate investments by the private sector in both countries.

Pakistan will especially encourage Turkish private sector for investment in power generation through coal‚ water and wind; infrastructure including motorways‚ roads and airports‚ education‚ low-cost housing‚ urban development‚ municipal services‚ public transport and solid waste management.

The leadership of the two countries agreed to strengthen existing cooperation and partnership in security and counter-terrorism related issues.

The two countries agreed to further deepen their defence cooperation through exploring the possibility of joint defence production‚ research and development.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit Turkey‚ which he accepted.

Earlier‚ Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks in Islamabad.

The two sides agreed to conclude preferential trade agreement in the first quarter of next year to promote bilateral trade.

Later‚ in a press stake out along with his Turkish counterpart‚ Nawaz Sharif said the strong business delegation accompanying Prime Minister Erdogan shows the confidence of Turkish companies in business opportunities in Pakistan.

He termed the Turkish Prime Minister's visit to Pakistan a milestone for strengthening relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister said both the countries have common stance of many international and regional issues.

In his remarks‚ the Turkish Prime Minister said his country attaches great importance to enhancing cooperation with Pakistan in different fields.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey also wants to enhance cooperation with Pakistan of aviation‚ railways and maritime.
