New policy formulated for Exit Control List: Nisar
Interior Minister says the government is going to remove names of thousands of people from the list
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan says the government has formulated a new policy on Exit Control List, which was massively misused in the past.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Sunday, he announced to completely abolish blacklist of Directorate of Passports carrying names of over 52,000 people.
Chaudhry Nisar said the government is also going to remove the names of thousands of people from the Exit Control List. He said now only three thousand people are on the ECL.
He said from now onward, only the Interior Ministry would deal with the ECL. The names of people recommended by the apex courts, besides defence and sensitive organizations, would be put on the ECL.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the government is committed to improving law and order situation in the country. A special meeting for the purpose would be convened in Islamabad next month. Besides seminary administrators, all chief ministers and the Army Chief would be invited to the meeting.
