Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan says main cause behind the gas shortage in Karachi is refusal of Sindh government to give Right-of-Way for a new Sui Southern Gas Company's pipeline.

Addressing a news conference along with Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Energy Nadeem Babar in Islamabad on Thursday, the Minister said if Sindh Government grants the RoW for a new pipeline of 17 kilometers then additional 150 Million cubic feet gas per day can be provided to the province.

He said circular debt in gas sector has risen to 250 billion rupees which can be reduced by taking all stakeholders on board.

Speaking on the occasion, Nadeem Babar said shortfall of gas in Sindh will affect the business community of Karachi, hence all out efforts are being made to resolve the issue.
