A state of the art model zoo will be established in Faisalabad over twenty six acres of land where birds and animals of various species including lions, leopards, elephants would be housed.

A spokesman of the local administration said that commissioner Mehmood Javaid Bhatti during a meeting had stressed the need for a most modern zoo in Faisalabad for recreation of people especially children.

In this connection the commissioner also directed the officers of various departments including wildlife department to review their resources for the zoo as early as possible.

He said that PC-1 of the project has been prepared and sent to the Punjab Government for approval. He said that the project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 252 million. He said that physical work on the construction of Model Zoo would be started immediately after approval and sanction of funds by the government.
