'Govt working on plan to lay 1700km new railway tracks'

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed says the government is working on a plan to lay seventeen hundred kilometers new railway tracks across the country.

Talking to newsmen in Nowshera on Sunday, he said various projects related to Railways will be completed under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The Minister said Pakistan Railways has set target to earn ten billion rupees revenue annually out of which four billion rupees have already been earned.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Railways visited Mardan Railway Station today.

He inspected repair and maintenance work at the station and expressed satisfaction over it.

Speaking on the occasion, he said additional six new trains three each in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be run soon.

Sheikh Rashid said historical railway stations will be established in Takht Bhai and Malakand areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
