Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured that the government will provide every possible cooperation for promotion of science and technology.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Monday during which the Ministry of Science and Technology gave a detailed briefing to him about import substitution and technology based products which could be used to bolster the country's exports.
Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhary informed the Prime Minister that his ministry has identified two hundred and fifty two products including in chemicals, bio technology, textiles, base metals and plastic through which foreign exchange could be earned by enhancing their production and quality. In this regard, the ministry of science and technology is also formulating three, seven and ten year’s programs.
The Prime Minister was briefed about the future course of action for high tech industrial development. In the first phase, the Prime Minister was informed that sectors of herbal, food and medicines will be given priority. The Prime Minister was also briefed about the progress on Jhelum Industrial Biotechnology Park.
The Prime Minister appreciated the recommendations of the Minister for Science and Technology for increasing the technology based exports of the country. He also hailed the ministry's efforts towards recovering state owned land from illegal occupation.
