A C-130 Aircraft carrying relief assistance left for Colombo today.

The step has been taken in line with the Prime Minister’s directive to provide all necessary assistance to the Government and people of Sri Lanka, for rescue and relief operation, following the devastating flood.

The Aircraft is carrying Tarpaulins, Tents, Mats,  Aqua Tabs and electricity generators.

Foreign Office Spokiesman said the Government and the people of Pakistan stand with the brotherly people of Sri Lanka in this hour of need and will continue to assist in the rehabilitation of those affected by this natural calamity.


A three-day anti-polio campaign to administer anti-polio drops to children up to five years began in Punjab today.

During the campaign about eleven million children in 36 districts of the province will be administered polio vaccine.

For this purpose, hundreds of teams have been constituted for the campaign, while strict security arrangements have also been made.


World Humanitarian Summit begins in Turkish city of Istanbul today.

Delegates from across the world including UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon are attending the summit.

The summit is aimed at addressing the fast deteriorating global humanitarian situation.

In a statement UN Under-Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O’Brien said 130 million people need humanitarian aid in the world.


He said 25-30 billion dollars are needed to provide humanitarian assistance worldwide.



Member of the Provincial Parliament and Advisor to the Premier of Ontario Province, Canada Shafiq Qaadri called on Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi in Islamabad today.

President Barack Obama has announced full lifting of arms embargo on Vietnam.

He made the announcement today during a joint news conference in Hanoi alongside his counterpart Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.


India launched an unmanned model space shuttle into orbit from Andhra Pradesh today.

It is designed to enable the Indian Space Research Organisation  to collect important data on hypersonic speed and autonomous landing.


In the India, State of Uttarakhand ten workers were killed and five injured in land sliding during construction of a road.


Four persons were killed and a dozen injured when a speedily van turned turtle near Tando Allayar today.

The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals.
