The Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Sipra has said Pakistan Government is actively engaged with all neighbouring countries in an effort to create a peaceful neighbourhood.

He said this while delivering his message on the occasion of the National Day of Pakistan on Monday. The day was marked by celebrations organized by the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo.

On Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations, he explained that both sides have intensified political engagement and undertaken substantive measures to further deepen and broaden the economic relationship including refining the Free Trade Agreement, expanding the portfolio of tradable items and encouraging bilateral investment. 

He highlighted that the Government of Pakistan is engaged in Sri Lanka’s social sector development. Some of the projects being sponsored include construction of schools, clean drinking water supply projects, livelihood generation, setting up computer training centres, upgrading hospitals in rural areas and providing scholarships to needy children.

The Acting High Commissioner also hoisted the national flag of Pakistan during the ceremony attended by a large number of participants from various walks of life including members of the Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association.


Pakistan Day celebrated at Pak Consulate in Dubai

Pakistan National Day was celebrated on Monday at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai with national zeal and fervor.

A large number of UAE based Pakistanis from all walks of life attended the ceremony.

Consul General of Pakistan Javed Jalil Khattak hoisted the national flag at the consulate's premises, while the national anthem was played.

Khattak also read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister to the audience. He mentioned the great sacrifices rendered by the forefathers for a separate homeland. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of the nation, envisioned a country where Muslims could lead their lives according to their own values and traditions, while the non-Muslims would also be free to practice their own religion, he said.

The Consul General stressed the need to forge unity among the ranks and file of the Pakistani community. He said that the nation had witnessed many challenges and measured up to each one with resilience and resolve.

He extended warm felicitations to the Pakistani community residing in the Emirates and asked them to work tirelessly for the progress and development of UAE and Pakistan.


Flag hoisting ceremony held at Pakistan embassy Seoul

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul, South Korea, Monday on the occasion of the National Day of Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by the officers and staff of the embassy and prominent members of the Pakistani community from different walks of life residing in South Korea.

The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, which was followed by flag hoisting and playing of the National also read on the occasion.

Zahid Nasrullah Khan Ambassador of Pakistan to the republic of Korea also addressed the gathering on the occasion and exchanged views with members of the community.
