Rallies were held in different cities and towns of the country on Friday to protest against publication of blasphemous caricatures by a French magazine.

In Islamabad, Jamaat-e-Islami organized a march against the provocative act of the magazine in the name of freedom of expression and media.

Addressing participants, Amir of the Jamaat Sirajul Haq said it is a deliberate attempt to create a wedge between believers of different religions.

In Peshawar, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat ul Ulema (F) and other religious parties and members of civil society staged rallies.

The speakers strongly condemned publication of the caricatures by French magazine. They demanded legislations on international level to control such heinous acts in future. They asked Muslim Ummah to adopt a joint strategy to discourage such trend at international level.

In Quetta, a complete shutter down strike was observed.  Similar rallies were also staged in towns and cities.
