Addressing a UN General Assembly panel in New York‚ Pakistan's Ambassador Masood Khan stressed the need for saving both water and energy.
He said by 2030‚ the demand for food would increase by 35 percent‚ water by 40 and energy by 50 percent thus creating huge gaps in the demand and supply of both the commodities.
Masood Khan pointed out that water-energy nexus cannot be addressed in isolation but within the broader cluster of livelihoods‚ health‚ education‚ food security‚ human rights‚ agriculture‚ industry‚ climate change and the environment.
