Kohat blast leaves 12 persons dead
President‚ Prime Minster and Interior Minister strongly condemn the blast.
In Kohat‚ twelve people were killed and sixteen injured in a roadside bomb blast close to a passenger van near Police Lines on Sunday.
Inspector General Police Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Durrani said it was an IED blast placed in fruit crate on the roadside. He said that five to six kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the blast. They expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of innocent human lives in the blast and sympathized with the bereaved families.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has sought a report from the Director General National Crisis Management Cell on the incident.
In a statement in Islamabad today (Sunday)‚ the Interior Minister strongly condemned the blast and expressed sympathies with the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak have also condemned the blast.
In their separate statements‚ they termed the Kohat blast as a cowardly act of terrorism by the enemies of the country.
The Chief Minister announced five hundred thousand rupees of compensation for the heirs of those killed in the blast and two hundred thousand rupees each for the injured.
