Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack on the building of Wolesi Jirga (lower house of the Parliament) in Kabul.    

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah said we commend the role of Afghan security forces in effectively countering this act of terrorism.

He said Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

We reaffirm our resolve to fight terrorism in close coordination with Afghanistan.

He said Pakistan stands with their Afghan brothers in the common struggle against terrorism.

PM Nawaz Sharif's condemnation

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Afghan Parliament.

In a message to the Afghan Government the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that terrorism is common enemy of both countries and steps are being taken in unison to defeat the nefarious designs of the terrorists.

The Prime Minister also extended condolences to those injured in this incident.

Speaker NA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s condemnation

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has strongly condemned terrorist attack on Afghan parliament building. 

In a statement, he said parliament of any country represents aspirations of its people and attack on it is highly deplorable.

Earlier, six Taliban gunmen who attacked the Afghan parliament on Monday have been killed nearly two hours after lawmakers were forced to flee by a large explosion and gunfire.

Kabul police spokesman said one Taliban fighter driving a car detonated a bomb outside the parliament gates and six others took up positions near the building.      

He said all lawmakers were safe.
