Opposition demands convening meeting of CCI on load-shedding

On Points of order, the Opposition members highlighted the miseries of the people they are facing due to heat wave and load-shedding in country particularly in Sindh. They said a number of lives have been lost due to heat wave in Karachi. They said the government has increased the prices of electricity but there is no reduction in load-shedding duration.
They demanded convening a meeting of Council of Common Interests to discuss the issue. They said in the agreement it was decided that K-Electric will upgrade the system but it failed to do so. They drew attention of the federal government to resolve the power crisis keeping in view the difficulties being faced by the people especially during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak.
They said 20 hours load-shedding is being carried out in different parts of the country particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and people are resorting protests. They suggested that a committee should be formed to find an out of box solution of the crisis. The Opposition members staged a walkout from the House over the issue.
