Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says he plans to invite a meeting of all political leaders after approval of the next year's budget to discuss prospects of signing a Charter of Economy.

Speaking on a TV channel, he said under the charter, the entire political leadership and other stakeholders will be asked to set medium and long term goals to stabilise the national economy.

He said we will have to prefer economic agenda to short-term political gains to win the confidence of international institutions towards our consistent economic policies.

The minister said he has already floated the idea of signing Charter of Economy during his meetings with parliamentary leaders of different political parties time to time.

Ishaq Dar said such a step will ensure collective ownership of economic policies by all political leaders.
