The United Nations has lauded Pakistan for launching a new pilot project to register undocumented Afghan refugees in the country.
Talking to newsmen in Geneva, a spokesperson of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Duniya Aslam Khan said the project would allow up to one million Afghan refugees to get legal status, who were living up to now in the country without identity papers.
He said this significant step will help regularize stay for many Afghans at a time when return to their home country may not be possible.
