Chief of Army Staff met Prime Minister in Islamabad today and discussed matters of regional and internal security.

CALL ON.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today.    

Matters pertaining to regional and internal security were discussed during the meeting.

 

PM-MEETING

The National Security Committee meeting began under the chair of Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today.  

It will review national security issues and regional situation.

 

SENATE RESOLUTION

The Senate today passed a unanimous resolution urging that the UN Security Council resolutions recognizing the inalienable right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people should be implemented forthwith.

The resolution moved by Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people over the recent wave of atrocities unleashed by the Indian troops in the held Valley.

The resolution said that black laws including Public Safety Act and other punitive measures in Occupied Kashmir should be repealed immediately which are repugnant to human rights cover up its crimes in the held Valley.      

Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanvir Hussain told the House that Pakistan Engineering Board has been directed to ensure quality manufacturing of tractors. He said an understanding has also been reached with Belarus for the manufacturing of tractors in the country. 

To a question, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal informed the House that the provinces are currently carrying out feasibility studies for the establishment of special economic zones under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project. He said China has also offered to extend cooperation in the establishment of four to five economic zones in different parts of the country.

He said we have successfully addressed all the reservations of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan on the project. 

He said the Chinese government has expressed satisfaction over the progress on the project.

 

SENATE FATEHA

The House offered Fateha for the departed soul of Meraj Muhammad Khan. In his remarks, the chair said late Meraj was a great leader who made significant contribution for the restoration of democracy in the country.

KIRMANI.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr. Asif Kirmani has thanked the Kashmiri people for voting in favour of PML(N) candidates in the AJK legislative assembly elections.

In a statement, he said the victory of PML(N) showed that the people have expressed their confidence in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's vision of development and prosperity in AJK.

Dr. Kirmani congratulated AJK Election Commission, army and administration for holding peaceful elections.

 

RATINGS.

Another international ratings agency has ranked Pakistan among the top emerging South Asian economies owing to continuity of policies and political stability. 

The Atlantic Media Company (AMC) of the United States has ranked Pakistan as a relatively stronger economy in the South Asian markets and expected that it will grow rapidly during days ahead.

According to Atlantic’s report, the Pakistan Government’s investment in infrastructure and other developmental projects has caused the country’s GDP to grow.  The Report said it is being acknowledged internationally that Pakistan is emerging as market leader.

It noted that current economic conditions of Pakistan are attracting foreign investors.  Moreover the 46 billion dollars investment in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor  will help Pakistan overcome chronic problems like power crisis and unemployment.

It was reported last month that the American index Morgan Stanley Capital International also inducted Pakistan in the 10 most emerging economies in the world.

It said KSE-100 Index has been performing the best among Asian markets during 2016 ranked as world s 5th best stock market.

 

PIA

PIA is in negotiations with Sri Lankan Airline for the wet lease of four A-330 aircraft.   

Pakistan's national carrier had advertised for leasing wide body aircraft last month and Sri Lanka's national carrier expressed interest in leasing out its four new wide body A-330 aircraft to PIA.

A high-level team of PIA led by CEO, Bernd Hildenbrand recently visited Colombo to inspect these aircraft and to negotiate a contract.

These planes would primarily be used for PIA's premier service which is being launched from 14th August 2016.

With new aircraft, more professional crew and improved service standards, the new service aims at providing an altogether different experience to passengers. This service will go a long way in helping PIA regain its market share both domestically as well as internationally.

 

BLAST:

Eight people were injured in a bomb blast on Seryab Road in Quetta today.

According to police sources, the bomb was planted along a road side.

The injured were shifted to civil hospital Quetta for treatment.

 

APHC:

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Global Kashmir Day, today, to protest against the killing spree unleashed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.

Call for the observance of the day has been jointly given by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The leaders in a joint statement in Srinagar called for complete shutdown in the occupied territory tomorrow.

The leaders have also called for a march towards Islamabad town in the Kashmir Valley on Monday to pay tributes to the martyrs. They appealed to the people of the occupied territory to reach the town and participate in the gathering.

 

CRICKET

The second cricket test between Pakistan and England begins at Manchester today. 

The match will start at 1500 hours Pakistan Standard Time.

Pakistan is leading the four match series 1-nil.
