Punjab bans import of potatoes to encourage local growers
Provincial Agriculture Minister says government has withdrawn export duty on potatoes.
Punjab Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed says import of potatoes has been banned to provide maximum benefit to the local growers.
Speaking on the occasion of inspection of Seed Plant in Sahiwal, he said the government has also withdrawn export duty on potatoes.
He said export of potatoes has started and it is expected that its prices will also increase.
The minister said Punjab has achieved record yield in cotton, rice and wheat this year.
